IMG_0706.JPG Need help identifying. No maker's mark. Believe it was made around 1910, east coast US maybe?

I would say dressing table as per definition: "a piece of bedroom furniture with a mirror and a set of drawers for clothes, cosmetics, etc."
I thought vanities were bathroom pieces used to conceal the plumbing from the contained sink and give you some storage.

That is the oddest looking vanity I have ever seen. really interesting form The top makes sense, the bottom looks more for linens. Either way really nice.

I wonder if the bottom drawer was for petticoats?

Hard to tell from photographs but... to my eye, looks like it could be from México and not new but not terribly old.

    Hi,
Not a dressing table. Where would you sit and if you could sit where would your legs go??????

It's quite a large piece. I can't imagine legs. Maybe the bottom is for sitting on?

Interesting! Drawers are dovetailed, not by machine.

That's what is so strange about it. I could only find two remotely like it online. Not in style but form; cheval mirror, small side drawers, large bottom drawer.

The exuberant carving has a very folkloric feel to it as do the untraditional proportions.

Does the mirror swivel or is it fixed?

If it swivels, then a Cheval vanity.
If it is fixed, then a Vanity Dresser.

Want to also add that it is a Gentleman's vanity dresser and not a woman's.

The little drawers would have held collars, ties, and such.

    Possibly maple.
    Turn of the century. 1890-19teens
    Very nice.

It swivels. What is the large drawer designed for?

That makes sense. Thank you! I've never seen one before. I'm glad we snagged it!

Shirts, union suits, maybe pants. Looks to be a pretty deep drawer, if it goes all the way to the back of the dresser.

Think Clutteredcloset has this right. It is a bit unusual with the double riser of drawers.

It could be a custom piece. Most men's dressers were highboys with mirrors for shaving. Men would usually stand up because of height to get dressed. Anyway, still an interesting piece.
    Has it been refinished?
You could also show some pics of how it was constructed that would probably tell you more than the finished view.
    Good luck.

I don't believe it's been refinished. I'll post more photos of construction soon. Thanks!

I've seen wardrobes that would match that: one long drawer on the bottom.
