What type of pottery would this plate be, oriental glazes are totally lost on me. Any help will be greatly appreciated. kutani.jpg kutani1.jpg kutani2.jpg kutani3.jpg kutani4.jpg kutani5.jpg kutani6.jpg kutani7.jpg

It doesn't appear to be any of the traditional Japanese decorative forms. I suspect it is relatively modern, 1970's onwards. The mark uses the Chinese style of seal and I'm struggling with the stylisation of the characters. I can make out 第 (dai) and 窯 (kama - kiln)

Well spotted, the border pattern is different and the marks don't match, but the main design is the same. Perhaps those on your link are even more recent versions. The mark on the plate in the post doesn't say Yamaguchi. None of these are Imari either in the sense that collectors would use.

Yes, not identical but probably an earlier production. I imagine Imperial Imari is just a trade name. The company probably revived the design in different pattern combinations and colours but I am just guessing.
The bottom one the eBay offering.

I suspect it might be a transfer print. As such would never be considered genuine kutani or Imari, if it were to be kutani it is not a style of Kutani I have yet to encounter.

The backmark is modern, but the transfer print might suggest it is at least vintage.

Not anitque, not handpainted and not art. Just modern decorated plate that might well be vintage.

TRANSFER PRINT. You can clearly se the overlap.
