I'm trying to learn about this unmarked doll. Looks old based on condition of fabric. Composite head, foot, and hands. No labels on the clothing. It measures about 12 inches in length. Thank you!

    Hi,
Your doll made me sit up and think. I do not believe I have seen an Asian compo doll with such unasian moldings. The eyes and lips are painted like Western features. The clothes look very Chinese. She has a lot of "aging" as to the fading and waterstaining which is NOT new to look old but old. Looks like she should be from the 1920s. I am far from anyone who really knows dolls. Your doll has me puzzled. I personally thinks she is wonderful. I wonder if she was made here just to simulate Asian? JMHO

Thank you for your comments Greg. She came into our shop from a customer, but with no additional background. I had hoped there would be markings of some sort under the clothing, but no luck. The foxing (along with the water stains) to the body seem like genuine indications of age. I wasn't sure where to post this (since there is no "dolls" board here), but maybe someone will recognize her. Dave

I think she's one of a pair, a Chinese Mother doll that came with a baby doll.

composition doll+chinese+1920 images led me to etsy...

No doll expert at all, but I believe she's the generic (since no label) of a doll that the Worldwide Doll Club sent to members in the 50s.

My mom belonged to another "world wide" club and received carved ebony elephants, a silk scarf from India that never left her jewelry drawer and a neat Lisa Larson bowl I still have.

Her baby looks exactly like her, an adult :)

I think you "nailed" it, Scout! That appears to be a harness to strap her to her mother's back.
