    Hi folks

something else i picked up yesterday

just recognized the name and saw it was an early edition

saw a documentary once about a first edition of his most famous book, some guy broke into the owners house and murdered the book owner for a first edition wind in the willows

never heard of this one before

theres 2 dates on the copyright/info page, so thinking not a first edition but unsure

    got some cool illustrations though

theres also an inscription on one page, so will lower value unfortunately

    any thoughts or info appreciated

ah, so perhaps the first edition never had the Parrish illustrations, which are rather cool

doesn't mention if this edition had a dust jacket or not, i'm presuming not with the illustration on front

Charlie!! I scrolled down and slapped my forehead. :D I used to stalk listings of this book back when I wistfully wanted copies of books with works by Illustration masters. Parrish is one of the greats. What a nice find.

A good point. Collector interest in both Grahame and Parrish.

Great find Chas-Parrish has always been one of the most coveted illustrators, even back in the 60's.Plus it's by the Wind In the Willows author. In this day and age when so many books are worthless-it's quite a coup mate.

I had Parrish prints all over my apartment in Boston. When the ex and I split not only did he take the half that we agreed on, he came over to the house and took the rest! I'd get home from work and say to the kids "Where is..." whatever was missing, like prints or china or my favorite rocking chair. "Oh, Dad came by and took it." Much gnashing of teeth.

Maxfield Parrish was all over college dorm walls in the USA, in the 1980s, when Escher wasn't. He may not have made it across the Atlantic.
