Hi all. Picked these 2 up today for $1 each. Noticed the clasp on the pearl necklace said 14k so I figured they werent absolute garbage. But what do I know from pearls??? The bracelet I *think* is Trading Post. Theres a minuscule mark that I swear you can see very faintly a "925" but I just cant capture it in a pic. Now that my xmas package is off I can post things again for info ! Any input is always appreciated.

    Johnny,
Did you rub the pearls on your teeth to confirm they are genuine (real pearls will feel rough or gritty)? I'm seeing different sizes and shapes which leads me to believe that if genuine they could be natural pearls rather then cultured pearls. That would be nice. They aren't knotted which would surprise me if they are natural pearls.
even if they aare not real pearls, the 14k clasp makes it a win!

The pearls are freshwaters, and it doesn't appear they're knotted. The bracelet could be anything. I've seen a lot of those - test to make sure it is what it says. Lots in a similar design are "beach jewelry".

Whats the difference between knotted and not ? Is that better if they are knotted? I know zero about pearls so always open to learning!

more care is taken with better grade pearls , that are knotted to prevent them scraping on each other...

And if the string breaks the pearls don't scatter all over the floor!

And the pearls don't rub up against each other.

What they said. That's why I knot pearls when I string them. Not that I do it all that often. If the string dies as string is wont to do, you're not hunting loose pearls from pillar to post. Darned things roll everywhere!

and of course , you wouldn't want the nice little pearls to touch each other.....;)

They look to me like a mix of spherical pearls & ones that are more baroque (any shape that's not a sphere). They are neither uniform nor graduated. As has been well noted, they are not knotted. And the bead tips used to finish the ends of the strand & attach the clasp are a type that crafters like me use. So what I'm seeing is a strand someone put together at home in the simplest way, but happening to use a nice clasp.

That sure looks like it could be ! The mark is so weird.Very worn and I can see "925" from a distance, but cant get it to photograph. I saw the red spot but assumed it was like you said, maybe nail polish. Thank you Kiko, that is very interesting .

I sold one like that one of these as a hand stamped Mexican bangle for $25

You have to watch out with those; I've found a few marked sterling and batted zero for getting sterling.
