Featured Jewish Spice Tower

    Happened to see this on the Museum of Fine Art, Boston, FB page today. I thought it was interesting and it's one of those things if you found, you wouldn't know what it was

    This Spice Tower from Bohemia (about 1810) would have held the spices that filled the air at a Jewish Havdalah ceremony, which marks the conclusion of the Sabbath at sunset on Saturday. The open design allows the scents to escape, sweetening the transition back to the regular days of the work week

    See that door image? Does anyone remember a brass or bronze item that looked like a chair with a door in back and it looked like there might have been other parts to it - this was last year. I wonder if it was part of one of these.

    Was it billed by the poster as a lamp?

    Lovely item that spice tower. Was this the long-delayed Birthday Trip?

    Yes, the lamp thingy. Maybe it wasn't this. The door reminds me of the one on that thing.

    No, the long-delayed birthday trip is going to be Wednesday. I'll tell you all about it when I get back. I'll be on the lookout for flea markets and antique shops!!
