Picked up these two pictures at a very small estate sale today. Looked up the name and taged it as Jef Codron(1882-1942) before purchase $15 ea. Looked up “The Korner & Wood Co, when I got home. Feeling really good for this purchase.

But my knowledge of replicas is very limited. If this is a print it still is very old, but somehow the signature looks as though it was hand written on both. The store was in business for short time. signature on both which looks exactly like I see online. And there’s a stamp on the lower left that I can’t make out [images of both stamps]. The paper on the back is disintegrating as I touch it literally from the back and the front paint on frame near gone, so I know they have to be old. And finally I cannot find the name of either one of these pictures online under his name, to see if it exist elsewhere. Can someone help educate me as pictures have never been my strong point. the drawing is approx 8” x 8”. Can someone ID the stamp bottom left? Feeling lucky!

You would hope they're colored etchings, but I can't tell from the photos. The plate impression is rough, almost tearing the paper. That suggests it isn't just decorative.

Yes, they are colored, was difficult to take a picture without the glass reflecting everything in the room, so had to angle and light from atop which distorted color

They are both night scenes with small bits of color, my camera isnt getting the true detail as I struggle with the reflections

Really having a hard time finding the actual prints out there that were made if made. Nothing with those names comes up for me.

Bev aka thelmasstuff Colored pencil artist extraordinaire ;)

Of all the times I've been to Belgium, I've never been to Liege. We usually stay in the Flemish part and rarely visit the French (Walloon) section. Very typical Belgian streets from an earlier time, although many cities still maintain the old sections. Bruges especially.

"Epreuve d'artiste," just for the record, translates more popularly (if less literally) as "artist's proof" in common Anglo-American parlance, but the rest of the definition is spot on.

what makes you think that they show places in Liège ?
they are clearly marked "rue du pays de Liège" and "rue du chien marin" , small streets in old Bruxelles

Interesting rendition of the same street view but during the day. And a newer street lamp I think. (Rue du Chien Marin)

Still no print of his found, wondering if any were made?
