According to the mark on this 24 piece Satsuma tea set it has the gold Shimazu family mark as the top character and the bottom mountain san character. I have looked closely at each piece as some of the marks are clearer than the others, but still cannot identify the middle character. I think this set is from the 1920s??? though don’t think it was ever used. I would like to be able to identify it further before passing it on so appreciate any help.

That is interesting as it appears to read 祐山 which in this context would probably be Yuzan (a family name). But I can't find any reference to such a maker of Satsuma ware. There is a known Yuzan, but the mark is 由山 (also Yuzan).

I agree with your dating, and yes, it is the Shimazu crest above.

I don't have this mark in my database, would you be OK if I add it and try and find out some more?

Yes of course, please add it. I looked on so many sites and never could find it so any info is most appreciated. The set is very sweet but does have one small fleabite on a saucer and a small chip on the inside of the sugar bowl lid (doesn't show). It was wrapped quite poorly so I feel lucky there is not more damage given the number of times it has been moved! Thanks again for your help.
