I need help with the mark on the bottom of this bowl, please.

I did look through the Gotheborg site without any luck. :(

It is 8 3/4" across & is 2" to the side edge.

Sunday night was always my listing night on Ebay too.I'd work on the listings all week, and then 'Bombs Away' on Sabbath eve !
I think there's some pretty good (as in 'native born') translators on the Asian Art Forum-good luck.

I will give it a try. I saw numerous marks with that red background but none resembled the shape of the mark & the characters at least not to my very untrained eye.:rolleyes:

I did post it on the forum that was suggested by @wlwhittier late last night.

Hopefully, it will get approved & posted some time today.

I will update this thread with any information I get from them.

According to Bill H. on the above-mentioned forum -

The gilt characters on red ground can be read as Japanese names "Masanari or Masashige (正成), but if any of them have made porcelain in the last couple of centuries, they evaded my Google searches. Your bowl resembles other with marks on a red field that were made circa the first quarter of the 20th century.
