Japanese mixed metal whatsit .....

At one point I was hot for letter openers / page turners , and this Japanese mixed metal one caught my eye !

I thought it would be nice to open the forum with....
It's 11 5/8 inch by one inch , & the blade is not dull on any edge.

Any thoughts on age?
or...any thoughts ...at all ?

Guessing late 19th c-1910 or so. Made with great skill it is probably the work of one of the many former swordsmiths who had to find new work in the post-Samurai Japan. The maker had probably been making tsuba before going into fancy desk furnishings. The handle may be gold or may contain gold.

Yup, that looks like the same manufacture.
The censor is yellow , the bird on top is red and the crane below is white , & those are the 3 colors of gold.......but I dare to hope !

There's damage on the bottom left of the handle from blunt force , & it looked to me like someone pried out a jewel from the indentation at the bottom.

But that's just a story I tell myself !
