Japanese Marks - Hallmarks?

    Please can anyone help with this marks on a metal object which I believe to be Japanese. IMG_8147.JPG

    Pleas show the item itself from front, bottom, inside and give measurements. Also, where are you and where did this come from. The more information you give the easier it is for people here to help you :)

    This is on a plaque or medallion. It is 80mm in diameter and 8mm think. One one side is a phoenix and the other a picture of a gentleman. I will try to add some more photos.

    I don't see the usual characters for pure silver within that marking. May not even be Japanese characters.

    The writing on the medallion is defiantly Japanese, translator on my phone auto detects it. It comes up with a date of 1953. My phone does not work on the hall mark.

    Of course it still could be made in Korea

    Japanese don't have "Hallmarks." Closest they come is the 2 character mark meaning pure silver. Nothing representing an assayer, location or date.

    In modern years they do include fineness in percentage - like 925.
