    ~10 1/2" diameter, ~1 1/8" wall, ~17 oz.

The Dragon has 3 claws...but sure looks Chinese to me; hence the query about Japanese origin. A copper alloy (bronze/brass) with a slightly domed/convex face; an acid-etched image (I may be wrong about the lacquer); the inner edge of the wall has a narrow (<1/8") triangular bead applied, to enhance its resonance, I believe. There are 2 holes ~5 1/2" apart through the wall, nearer the face than the rim, for hanging; pic 4 shows light passing thru them. It is hammered, 'tho the peens only show, slightly, on the inner face.
This thing is pretty dirty but I believe I can greatly improve its cosmetic appearance without damage to structure or finish. More pics after the work is complete. Thanks for lookin'!

Very cool, but getting my head around age, authenticity & value for Japanese & Chinese antiques has always eluded me.With 1.4 billion people making a million antiques a day-how can you keep up ?
    PS-This does,IMHO-look old to me.
