Hi all i picked up this little 5 1/2" vase for a song today at a yard sale. Ones i have seen similar are stating Meiji period?
If not what age might it be?
Sorry about the poor pics. not damage to the vase just flash from my camera

The photos don't look like ginbari foil, looks more like glitter and chopped foil.

I see what you are saying Hollyblue. There is no glitter here. the foil is in small pieces in between the cloisonne wires. I looked at a lot of others that have large areas of Ginbari. very few like this. It is foil and it is fired into the piece, not on top. i even just searched using the term foil or glitter, they all came up ginbari

Actual ginbari foil cloisonne the metal foil is embossed with a pattern. The photos really don't show a distinct pattern but maybe it does for you when viewing it in your hand. Many Google searches for "ginbari foil"brings up plain silver for embossing, cutting piercing, etc.an exotic term to sell the product.

Much like Japanese damascene which the Japanese know it as Zogan inlay.

No pattern. This is actually small foil flakes placed inside the cloisonne wires to make up the dragons body. So can I still call it ginbari? "Ginbari flake cloisonne dragon vase" Any clue on the age?

I would call it foil cloisonné. Meiji period is right, pre-1900.
