Hello Board Friends - Does anyone have any information regarding this Japan vase? I am unfamiliar with Japanese vases but I would guess mid-century based on the label. Is there a special name for this type of finish. It stands 9" tall. Thank you for whatever information you can provide.

Gorgeous, Don. I have a similar one in miniature, and it was sold to me as being 19th century. It is patinated bronze.

Thank you, Any Jewelry! As always, most helpful. This finish had an older production period than I expected.

Actually, I think these were sold in the late 60s early 70s.

Thank you, cluttered - that would fit with the label.

Don, I just checked my miniature, and it is different from yours. More squat and no verdigris, just dark patination.
The verdigris on yours should have been an indication of a more recent piece.:banghead::sorry: Apologies for the confusion. I do think yours is gorgeous though.:)
    Here is my little darling:

No worries, Any Jewelry. I never lost sight that my vase was between the wars at the earliest and more likely mid-century as cluttered confirmed.

Your little treasure is quite lovely. I don't normally buy metal objects but I have a weakness for Japanese items. Usually the only metal we see here is Indian and Pakistani brass. I wasn't too worried about re-selling my vase as I only have a $5 investment in it. I will most likely keep it though. There's a simplicity and elegance to the design that appeals to me. It also has a solidness that is an interesting contrast to the pottery and glass I usually handle.
