To me they look like equipment cases or shipping containers - cameras, medical or scientific instruments, firearms, etc. Are the interiors fitted or completely empty?

    The interiors are empty.

Wonder if anyone here can read the labels?

Looks ca 1960-70, for some kind of commercial/industrial equipment. Unless the labels reveal some very exciting purpose or ownership, use it at home as a bench or blanket chest, or save it until you have something large to ship to a customer, is difficult and expensive to have crates made.
