This lovely 10” plate is a very fine piece of ironstone. I thought it was China but it is completely opaque.

Unusually, it is entirely hand painted rather than hand coloured on a transfer. This indicates an early date.

Does anybody have any thoughts on the maker? No marks at all.

Could it be Spode? This example (on Google Images) is dated c1830

Interestingly, Masons 1979 Christmas plate uses a very similar border with the five cartouches. It's printed of course but I wonder if they based it upon one of their very early patterns.

Could be Masons, they did have pointy edges on some of their stuff, but paintwork is unfamiliar to me so IDK
