I love old photographs; they are inexpensive and lend authenticity to period displays.

Picked this picture and frame up and upon opening discovered the little frame actually had a convex glass with bubbles.

The writing on back of the picture was a pleasant surprise and will be fun to run down, already read connections to Plymouth Mass., WINSLOW J NORMAN, barrister, of John C Winslow & Son, an article “Titanic victim helped build Sault's industrial future (met his wife Jesse Kathleen Winslow, the daughter of a New Brunswick barrister, and the couple had two daughters) and many more interesting hits. Research for a stormy day.

It would be interesting to know if this little guy’s Barrister legacy continued in New Brunswick. He certainly looked like he was ready to argue a case. If anyone knows of anyone in New Brunswick that it would be of interest, please let them know. - thanks

That's a little gem of an old photograph. It's especially nice to have some background on the subject of the photo.

Hope you keep us posted on what you find out about the child in the photo. ;)

I love the Photo, the boy has so much character shown in this photo!:D I thought you might be interested to hear that I have been researching the Photographers and Publishers N.A. & R.A. Moore from Hartford, CT who were active around the same time this photo was taken; Here's the thread I made about some photos I have of Revolutionary War Veterans Published in the book The Last Men of The Revolution:

Count me in on loving this photo! His gggg?grandfather, Edward Winslow (1595 Droitwich, Worcestershire, England - 1655 at sea near Hispaniola) immigrated on the Mayflower in 1620. He was governor (1632/3, 1635/6, 1644) and assistant governor (1633/4, 1634/5, 1636/7, 1637/8, 1640/1) swapping offices with Wm. Bradford. His 2nd marriage was to 1621 Susannah ( ) White, widow of William White, "was the first marriage" in Plymouth. This Governor Ed. Winslow had 5 children with this 2nd wife - no children with his first wife. The first 2 died before the age of 3. Then there was John born c1624 with no further record. Then Josiah born after 1627 md. Penelope Pelham. Last child Elizabeth born 1631.

I suspect your Edward in the pic might be descended from Josiah??? I have some of the above info in my genealogy database because like millions of others I have a direct ancestral line from Edward's brother John Winslow (1597 Droitwich, England - 1673/4 Plymouth) who married Mary Chilton in 1627.

My sources for the above info are:

James Savage, A Genealogical Dictionary of The First Settlers of New England showing Three Generations of Those Who Came Before May, 1692, on the Basis of Farmer's Register, Vol. IV (1st Edition; Boston: Little, Brown and Company, 1862), p. 600.

Robert Charles Anderson, The Great Migration Begins, Immigrants to New England 1620-1633, Vol. III (Boston: NEHGS, 1995), pp. 2023-2026 and 2027-2030.

Boy, I messed up the above replied. For some reason, a senior moment, I thought the Edward was mentioned in the original posting with the boy a descendent of Gov. Edward Winslow of Plymouth. I just reread it all to see no mention of Edward Winslow. Soooooo please, disregard my prevous reply.

Thanks everyone for all the great feedback and links. Looks like I have lots of reading to do, but it is always a joy to run down this kind of research. And the house, beautiful. - Thanks
