a couple of little finds today, both bought from an antiquey type shop, worked out £3 each

pretty sure the big one is ivory, gilded silver (marked silver on link), been looking for a ivory pendant for a while to add to a bead necklace i have, shame its not more ornate, nice size though

think the other one is a claw ?, interesting mark in middle of 1934

    any info appreciated

No doubt the biggest one is ivory!
The other one is indeed a claw... From the size, panther is a good guess:cat::dead:

Awesome thanks kyra, interesting, I thought maybe bear, but I think they are dark

Not even worth testing it for silver as neither is sellable, but I would think the claw one is too

The mark in the middle of the claw looks like an A?

It's a really interesting mark, but can't make head nor tail of it

Looking into these types alot of them came from india, and the british colonisation

Very dodgy ground, well both pieces

But I can't help buying something that's looks interesting, big cat claw I wasn't expecting

It doesn’t necessarily make sense that it would be oriented that way but is it not just a monogram?

    stylized “AJ” maybe?

I’d say well bought at that price!

I think tiger rather than panther, that was more common. Usually Indian, Raj era.

Ah, The Bear did have a strong sense of his innate Bastet given superiority! And would regard a tiger as a big brother.

19 on one side, 34 on the other. Date 1934?

Wonder if 1934 is when the person killed the animal. I know of hunters that have rings made from elk teeth.

They didn’t kill em but the Elks club was fond of them too. Pictured isn’t mine but I scored a gold one ultra cheap in a local marketplace lot recently. AF4A1933-99DF-40FE-95E1-40D658E24724.jpeg

MEGA TOOTH 2-500x500.jpg @charlie cheswick ,One of those looks like my alligator tooth .........

(edit: I mean Crocodile tooth , it would indeed be rare to find an alligator in the Philippines.....lol) ...... however , even if it was an alligator in the Philippines, I would not be looking that close .....lol)

This Saltwater Crocodile was found dead on the other side of the surf Island of Siargao ( Cloud Nine) where I have body Boarded before and even chased my board into the Mangroves..... I will not be doing that ever again ..... Had I known at the time, I would not have been caught "alive" in there ...

Wow, sounds like a narrow escape, let those large croc teeth be a constant reminder to stay out of the mangroves :nailbiting::dead::)

I can picture you saying, o there's the board, gonna over to grab it then......:eek:
