I've had the commode for nigh on fifty years...

...but never used it or found out anything about it, bought it at a village fund-raising auction for £5.00.

Any help in identify style and period. Bought in Norfolk, England. The front legs are heavier from those at the back.

    Thank you.

Definitely the same item, but I'm surprised. The step is short and low, and top is quite a big step. Unfortunately, when try the website it prevents me for being in the wrong region. But you've given me the wood, thank you.

The step is low so it does not tip over and upset the contents above it

It could only tip over if there were no legs at the edge of the low step, it's mechanically impossible as there is no leverage. Take away the legs and puff!

Almost the so as not to worry.

I love that the other seller tried to obfuscate the original, extra purpose of theirs so they could make the sale! Probably much more appealing that way... :hilarious:
