Hi everyone! I hope your 2018 started off nicely. I got a chance to sneak away from work and go look at the local thrift shops again. I had time for 3 stores, and on my last store I visited the section of the store with all the flatware etc. The first thing I picked up was marked Sterling on the bottom! Man it's a good feeling to me..Now, I know they are weighted, and probably not worth very much, but they're beautiful and will look nice in my collection (horde) of silver. This time I polished one and left the other one original, because I really did run out of silver polish. Time to go get some more and hopefully some more polishing is in my future!

    Hi,
I love polishing silver( I know that I am weird). I used to spend a fortune on polish, now I buy it from the manufacturer by the case. The case usually lasts for a year. Saves a lot money. The best is I never run out. I had that happen once and it was the longest weekend of my life.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

What is everyone's favorite polish? I like Wright's Silver Cream, the foaming stuff, and Maas for tough jobs :)

I buy those all the time for pennies on what they are really worth, the Gorham ones will have about 2 ounces of silver per pair and still have resale value over melt.

That may have worked years ago when DH smoked. No source now, after almost 40 years he gave it up and I have never been happier, I never smoked :)

Anthony sorry you don't find any for cheap. Strange as this may sound, I actually looked for silver from November 2016 through August 2017 and found ZERO...Partly because I didn't know as much as I do now, but mainly because it just wasn't there. I've now expanded to a lot more stores (and found a great starter collection of silver), and this allowed me to get lucky a number of times. I've come to appreciate that in my area, the only way to get silver is to go to stores OFTEN, because there are plenty of other silver hunters in my local area and they aren't dummies either. I either get lucky and see it on the first day it's on the shelf or I miss out on the opportunity. Good luck to you in the future!
