Any way to figure out the possible maker and age of this by the mark? I tried to do a bit of searching, and I can't find out anything. Probably an unknown maker, but I would truly appreciate any input. Stands 11 7/8" high. Thanks for your time.:hungry::happy::kiss:

    I don't think I"d call this sgraffito.

Bev, why wouldn't you call it sgraffito? IMHO that is a good term.

With just a number and "Italy" as the mark, this would be nearly impossible to ID -- I'm paraphrasing Walter here! Not traditional sgraffito because I think that implies more of a pattern design while your example is more like "scored." JMHO.

I didn't think this geometric design was considered sgraffito, but I could be wrong.

For what its worth,Id say 50s-60s on age. I too learned from Walter that with just numbers and 'Italy" on the bottom its pert near impossible to figure out who.

    Hi
I don't recall ever listing it for sale, so I'm sure it's around here in my storage boxes somewhere. I will try to look for it in the next couple of days. :) if I find it, I will send you a message.

I've a feeling there's a similar one in Mark Hill's Italian pottery book. If I can find it, I'll check.

Looks like the last time she logged in here was last December. (This thread was started a year ago!)

I believe that she is one of the boardies from the old place. Maybe she will post back here again!

It wasn't a bad thing, komokwa... just didn't think you should get your hopes up. And I don't like calling others out, myself. So sorry if it came across that way. :arghh:

But just the same , if I do it to others , then I'm more than willing to be told when I goof up to !!!

I mean.....I'm no better or worse than any other member here ......but now I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a second to see when goodytwoshoes posted!
