I grabbed this up today from the shelves of the resale shop as buyers crowded in to select items. When I got home, I was doing some research and found a number of these bracelets - all claiming to be from the 1930's. What do you think. Is this from that period or a reproduction? Any comments appreciated.

Kiko, you lucky girl! It is one of the most beautiful of its kind I have ever seen. And lovely, happy colours.:)
It looks 1950s to me though, that is when most of these were made.
It is really mosaic rather than micro mosaic, although most sellers use the term micro mosaic for these as well.

Here is a nice page on different Italian inlay techniques:
    https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/pietra-dura-micromosaic-mosaic-jewelry-149527

This is an example of micro mosaic, much smaller pieces of glass or stone, you can hardly discern the individual pieces:

What a gorgeous find--good eye! And it looks to be really intact, too, which makes your find even more wonderful! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Agreed on 50s, agreed on mosaic. I've quite a bit of this studd, it keep attaching itself to me. The original Grand Tour pieces were made by nuns.

Wonderful and detailed response as ever. It's the past year and half of your and the other members' tutelage that I was able to spot this. 1950's make me happy, and the confirmation that it is an original piece makes me more happy. :):):) Very interesting the difference between the two - the bracelets I saw on the web that were similar claimed micro mosaic, and now I glad to know the difference. Thank you so much!

I sat outside the store for two hours before it opened and then froze at the case, as I was overwhelmed. This was on a lower shelf or it would have been snatched up before I saw it. You can come shopping with me anytime. :)

Thank you. Yes. I can't see any missing bits, which I think is pretty incredible after 70 years. I love sharing stuff here, as the information is almost as good as the having.

So this is where the idea and designs came from. An era where things of beauty were created for adventurers. I love that insight. Thank you.
