    It appears to be an oil painting. A sentimental genre scene. Signed by an artist named "Frank Asher." Why don't you post a photograph of the back as well?

    Here's the back.. Sorry it's difficult to remove the back cover without damaging the frame because of the staples.. Thanks.

    Believe or not, I found a couple more painting by the same artist on the internet. As you can see, he had a great talent for exploration.

    Thanks Debora for the info..

    We bought the painting 5 years ago for $100.. A friend wants to buy it and we are not sure the estimated value of it.. Anyone know a ballpark figure?

    Not to be flippant but... it's worth what your friend will pay for it. Unknown artist, no auction records. Looks 1960s, by way.
