I could not find how to change the title or delete Sorry guys I wanted to know if the center glass is considered Givre I was attempting to look it up and I've seen several different things labeled Givre Then I saw these listed as cat's eyes as well

Up at the top of your post - in the area that I circled, can't remember what it will say - but click it. Once you do it will say edit title. If it's not too late.

Givre is encased, isn't it? This doesn't seem to be. Maybe satin glass?

Either moonglow glass or fibre optic.

I'm not seeing any real chatoyancy, although maybe just the photo. This is how I expect a cat's eye effect to look:

Givré is sometimes referred to as faux goldstone. Here's an example; the brownish glass stones with gold striations:

All goldstone is faux, it's man made. That stripy bead isn't goldstone either. This is goldstone: speckled.

Givre is nothing like goldstone. It's clear glass with a bit of colour added.

    This is Givre:

Original brooch is either moonglow or fibre. I'm inclined to moonglow, it looks a bit old for fibre.

That's why I called my contribution faux.

No givre or 'faux goldstone' there - those cabochons have streaks of goldstone/aventurina.

OP's earrings look like satin glass or moonglow to me...

I thought Givre had the clear on it but when trying to research this I guess what I saw was a bunch of mistakes. That is why I came here. You guys are so good at recognizing things. I didn’t want to add to the mistakes out there! Lol. It must be satin glass. Ty!!!

Aha. In the jool biz we've always referred to goldstone as givré, i.e. French for with gold in it. The image I supplied did not have clearcut stripes in the cabs as the single example, enlarge mine to see it clearly. Those cabs are sprinkled with gold specks.

Re blue glass beads: It's hard to see any color but blue in them, where's the gold?

In any case, the subject stones in this thread are not givré, to come back to the question. They are colored glass.

If I recall correctly, moonglow is satin glass with a layer, varying in thickness, of clear glass on top, but I have Covid-brain these days...

Givré is French for "with gold in it" - really?!?

Apparently we have differing definitions of 'streaks' and 'stripes'- regardless, I see thin streaks of goldstone in your example, not "sprinkled with gold specks", and wider streaks (or stripes, if you prefer) in the example I showed.

If you're talking about the blue givre beads Bear showed, there is no gold and wouldn't expect any...
