Is this basket from Botswana?

    It's 10.5" wide, and 4.5" tall. It has a small flat bottom and then steady conical sides.

    Thanks for any help in identifying!

    A single rod coiled basket, with spaced interlocked stitching from Botswana:

    The start in the center is different from yours, the stitching materials appear to be softer than those on your basket (note how they compress/twist at the intersections), and they are less shiny.

    My best guess is that yours in from somewhere like the Philippines (Iraya-Mangyan), New Guinea (Buka), or Indonesia (Lombok). I would feel more confident in the attribution if it had a herringbone rim finish. But I suspect it may be a recent, more commercial basket with a simplified technique.

    My first thought was Lombok too, but it's a little more flexible, a little more pliable than others I've had from there.
