Is this an antique fireplace screen? Black Forest? Age?

hi Not sure what this is I did not think a wood firescreen would make sense but I cannot think of any other use for it It is 34" tall x 50" wide My first thought was Black Forest but I am not sure why Each corner appears to have a different set of flowers Any help with the age, era, origin, wood and what it is is very much appreciated

I can't help identify the piece. It is pretty.

Solid wood fire screens were, in fact, a thing. Figure these screens did more than deflect flying embers. They were used to direct heat to parts of a room, or keep the blazing heat from people closest to the fire, to name a couple. They wouldn't be close enough to catch fire.

During the warmer months, they would be pushed up close to the fire box to hide the ugliness of the grate and charred interior of the fireplace.

Don't necessarily see Black Forest here but could be on board with Germanic influence. Late 19th to early 20th century, I would think.
