Was your Rolls Royce of Jugs cheap ? I may even buy a repro if it's good. There's some really skilled artisan potters who still make them.
PS-I'd be happy if I just mud-larked the face section !

It a real bellarmine or Bartmann/baardman, but I think your question is about the age.:)
Looking forward to more photos. Even if it is a later piece, it has value, depending on when it was made, although not nearly as much as a 16th/17th century one.

Even though I used to go bottle digging I couldn't tell you if it's period or a copy but I will say if it is period it's in remarkably good condition, maybe far too good.

Thanks for tweaking the photo @Aquitaine . It gives us more of an idea what we're looking at.
Did you buy it off Marktplaats? I ask because of the style of the number on the photo. Is the seller the one from Frechen or thereabouts? He sells genuine antique Frechen stoneware.
(Don't remember his exact location, but it is in Bartmann 'heartland'.)

Would love to see the text and the seals/crests too when you get it.

Just a bit of fun, the town crest of Frechen, the lion is holding a bellarmine/Bartmann jug in its paws :D

the seller is from belgium and indeed he sells also real ones. he is selling off his whole collection. nobody bidded on this one, and i thought what the heck even if it is a copy it is a good copy. so deffently no money wasted. can´t wait to see it in real life.

And part of a great tradition. The last Bartmann jug maker of Frechen stopped a little over ten years ago, but it had been a continuous production since the 16th century, possibly earlier.
Of course its heyday was in the 16-17th centuries, but later ones are not replicas, just made in a later period.

Dear Any, the tekst reads as follow:
    PIEFGE : WE : HAT : DICH : ERFONGDE : DAT : WOR : NECVDE : FRONGDE : DOBT : GETNPDABWES : LEDERMAN : NE : SCHNEL : WIN : VS : DIKAN.
The tekst behind the word DOBT was melted and barely readable.
