Is this a modern upcycled box with an unusual interior or a little older?

Hi all, this pick up was an odd one- I mistakenly thought when I won it at auction, that it was much smaller . It was described as, " Victorian handmade wooden lidded jewelry/storage box with the interior showcasing a portrait of a child on the inside of the lid and silk/velvet lining". Of course, I have learnt to take these descriptions with a grain of salt. Now that I see that it's so large, I am confused by it!

It is 10"W x 7"H. I know the child is from a famous painting, I assumed this one was a print but I think it may possibly be a copy done by another hand as I don't see any dots under a loupe. My question is, what do you make of it? Is any of it old? Or a modern hobby piece?! Either way it's quite pretty and can be sold on as storage for..something or other . The way it (mahogany) was glued up in sections and turned on a lathe makes me think this could have been someones home project - I would say not antique, Vintage at the earliest, but probably more recent.

 

That’s newish velvet and synthetic rather than silk. It looks nineties ish.

I think Bear nailed it. I've seen the constuction before and it's not old. Someone did a nice job making it, whoever they were.

 

The picture of the child was taken from a painting by Anthony van Dyck, that in this link is tltled "The Three Eldest Children of Charles I"

The child was later copied into a painting by himself, Portrait of Infant James I:

According to what appears there, this one was not painted by van Dyck, but by an unknown artist.

Oh, and not all prints have dots, so must be identified through some other means.

 

That block construction is very eighties and nineties, I’ve seen bowls and biscuit barrels similarly made. It’s a nice box.
