Is this a Joshua tree?

This is a large albumen print and I think it is a Joshua tree. I'm hoping with the correct name, I might be able to find another one and ID the photographer. I probably should remove it from the frame but it will take some time and I'm short on that right now. It will be a "job" compared to the smaller hand colored prints.

This came from Williams & Everrett in Boston. Their gallery carried some impressive works from mid 1800's until they closed in 1907.

Here is a link about them. Thank you.

Judging From the google images of Joshua Trees, I don't think your tree is a Joshua tree. Not sure what it might be though. The Joshua tree pics seem to have much larger spikes.
Is that fruit on the tree?
Then again I could be totally wrong. Big Help I know!

Thank you for looking. When I first looked at Google images, I didn't think it was a Joshua tree. Then I changed the search to "flowering blossoming Joshua tree" and those images looked more like my photograph but, I still had doubts. I don't have a clue if that is fruit or nuts or just how it flowers. I don't think I have ever seen a Joshua tree up close and in person and if I did, I didn't know that was what I was looking at.:p

    Try Googling these:

Chain Fruit Cholla - Opuntia fulgida
Common Names: Hanging Chain Cholla, Jumping Cholla, Cholla Brincadora, Vilas de Coyote
    or
    Cylindropuntia fulgida

My computer keeps crashing and my son has company, people keep coming in and jabbering at me, LOL. I can't stay on task here.

Yup, cholla. It may well have been taken in Arizona: there's thousands of acres of cholla, sagebrush, saguaro forest. Those are flowers which then fruit and are edible. I've eaten them and jam made from them. Plus alcohol, I think. Might be somewhere near Yuma, or maybe Tucson.

What did it taste like? I wonder how they pick the fruit without getting hurt. While I was searching I came across some Youtube videos of people who were covered in these things. Ouch!

Sort of fresh and not too sweet, very moist. I've eaten prickly pear too and it was similar. I have no clue how they pick the things, either.

Thanks. I have tried prickly pears but it was so long ago, I don't remember what it tasted like. I don't recall hating it.

    Hi,
I love prickly pears. When my market has them, I eat too many for a few weeks.

I'm definitely going to try one the next time I see them in the market.

When I visited my Aunt in Prescott, AZ years ago, we ate fresh cactus pears. They were delicious, but you don't really find them in New England markets!
