Technically yes, but as a ninth printing and being a fairly modern book, I just class it as a secondhand book. Of course, the print runs may have been quite small, but I can't really see it having any appeal to modern first edition collectors.

Pretty sure it will be worth something down the road maybe. A lot of readers love this book.

However, book collectors generally use the term first edition to mean specifically the first print run of the first edition (aka "first edition, first impression"). Since World War II, books often include a number line (printer's key) that indicates the print run.

Ninth printing, bumped spine, no dust jacket - if you like the book, keep it for your library, if you're looking at it as an investment, seems a waste of shelf space.

There are a lot of good sites for collectibles. If you plan to keep buying in order to resell, I think you need to spend some serious time learning. Pick one or two favorite areas and really do deep research. Asking on forums is okay, but it's hard to get really accurate information sometimes. I grew up in the business. My parents had a barn out back where the bought and sold and then my Dad had a store. I still am not an expert at anything. The best way to learn is to see and touch objects. Spend some time in antique shops, galleries and museums so you get an idea of what real antiques and art look like in person. I think your enthusiasm is great and hope this is helpful advice.

addall.com which cross references the major book sites lists many copies. One is a 1/5th for $24.50. The other is a 1/1st for $27.50. Both have jackets which accounts for probably 1/2. but remember they are for sale...........not sold.
