Featured Is there an official name for this hair thingy?

    Hi,
    This is a saphiret and tests solidly for 14k. Are these Victorian and is there an official name for this thing? I’ve tried googling all kinds of words and image search doesn’t help

    It's a collar or tie stud with spiral back, Victorian era. (Shown in the back of Rainwater's American Jewelry Manufacturers, pp. 294-295...from The New York Jeweler, 1900.

    I think the official name is a pigtail for obvious reasons. It's an easy sale, if you're selling, Victorian sapphiret glass always is.
