    It appears to be decorative art. The type of thing sold at Home Goods, a chain of home furnishing stores, in the U.S.

    It is difficult to be sure from only one photo, and you don't say how large the figure is. But the style of the carving looks similar to ancestor figures made by the Luba-Hemba people of the Congo.
