    Hello all!

I am retiring at the ripe age of 74 and will be disposing
of many of the antiques and paintings I have accumulated
    through my life.

Some of them need to be identified
so I can sell them in the most advantageous way and so I
thought an antiques forum would be of interest for general
    knowledge sharing.

I have particular interest in U.S. coins but the pieces I need help
with at this point are a Chippendale table and an African Dan Mask.

Looking forward to interacting with others as I explore the Board.

    Frank

Brooklyn Dodgers??? My grandfather took me to Ebbets Field for a game when I was about 5? He was crushed when they moved to LA.

All of us diehard fans were crushed.

I was 14 years old when they left, lived a mile from Ebbets Field and swore I'd never be a baseball fan again. And I kept that promise.

I remember being a bit overwhelmed and confused by the experience. What 5yr old girl wouldn't? Only been to 3 other baseball games in my life - 2 at Fenway and 1 here in Seattle. All business-related, so the tickets were free. Meh.

So did I you grow up in Brooklyn?

No. Nassau County. But not too far out. My grandmother and her parents were all born in Brooklyn, though.

My mom was too, if memory serves, but she about knows one end of the bat from the other. Dad was a Giants fan, before they bugged out, and switched to the Mets. I do have a Dodgers cap in the house, but it's a repro. They're making them again.

I wached the wrecking ball as it destroyed Ebbets Field and in fact rescued a number of the original steel scoreboard numbers and took them home.

There were hundreds of seats and other memorabilia scattered around but was on foot and could only carry four or five of the numbers.

    Nice you have/had those though!
I’m from Jersey City and you know how famous the now long gone Roosevelt Stadium was. :(
