    Do you think it may be jade? It doesn't look like agate to my non-expert eyes. I wonder what the stones are that make up his eyes.

    It is nephrite jade, usually these little eyes are either rubies either garnets. from the color, garnet there. Thank you!

    That's it! And why I was intrigued the seller even not mentionned it was Russian (though dirty, the Kokochnik hallmarks were readable...) plus the lack of detail in the carvings.... But :rolleyes: I love lizards, and took a plunge up to 214€ and got it!

    It is gorgeous, kyra, and there is nothing faux about that nice chunk of Siberian nephrite.:happy:
    Fauxkoschnik marks.:( Russian silver is a minefield.:( The price seems fine for what it is though, and it is beautiful and cute as a button.:)

    Since you’re a lizard lover I’ll share one of my favorite objects. Maybe my favorite one, visually at least. ...easily top three we will say. I know nothing about it other than that I believe it’s Meiji era Japanese. Could be wrong though.
