Somewhere, someone is frantically searching their sideboard drawers...I know I put those handles away where they wouldn't get lost.

Handles used on serving dishes vs handles used for the serving of dishes. Where would you put the comma to make the distinction? And is it a distinction without a difference? :)

They are the handles, for serving dishes. Maybe.

Don't mean to nitpick, but I've seen more of these on silverplated covered serving dishes of the 20th century than I have seen on older dishes. So calling them "Victorian" may be misleading if you are intending to sell. They certainly could be older. I cannot see any markings that identify the maker, but do you have the dishes they go to?

If you do intend to sell them, precise measurements of the fitting on the underside will be important. Each manufacturer of these entree dishes may have slight variances in the structure and they are not universally one size fits all.

    Hi,
I had a set of silver plated serving dishes and pots with detachable cover handles like the ones pictured. They were a wedding set present dated 1903.

You will also get a lot of results for images if you google "silver plated entree dishes"
