Featured Interesting metal detecting find

Not my own unfortunately…I just saw it online and wanted to know more about it. Thought y’all may be able to help. Found in New England in an area with euro roots to 1600’s.

My metal detecting year has been pretty uneventful so far. A mercury dime, standing liberty quarter, and an earring are my only silver so far. No gold yet. A KG II penny. Some fun little relics but nothing to really write home about. I did find a cool brass badge or tag or from a regional dairy yesterday. Probably from the 20’s-40’s. Even has a cow on it. Hopefully this means the fall when I get out more will be full of treasure.

Anywho, any thoughts on this neat thing? I asked for a side view and will share if I get it. These are the only images available for now. I’d assume a pendant and glass or sapphire but what else? The form is interesting! Supposedly it doesn’t open in any way.

I’d say it’s the same. The guy mentioned having previously posted somewhere but didn’t get any relevant info I don’t think.

That’s what folks seemed to be thinking. However the finder claimed it didn’t open in any way. It could be that he just didn’t figure out how it opened. If it doesn’t I’m not really sure how it would work.

 

if u hit it hard enuf...... I'm sure it'll open.........
