Featured Interesting mechanical wooden thing

I picked this up today. Interesting little thing. I couldn't fathom what it is so googled it. I won't put a spoiler in and will leave you to figure it out. There is a wooden plunger on the left hand side. When it is pressed the drawer opens and the birds head dunks into the open drawer.

 

Cigarette dispenser.

 

Looks like a cigarette or cigar type box - how cool!

 

I ruled this out................LOL!

 

E.European or Scandinavian ? Cool piece and suitable for any type of smokeable.

 

Toothpicks, Dang it!

EDIT: Yeah...probably cigarettes. Hmph.

 

That was over quickly enough. I'll try and find something more obscure next time. I'm not even sure if it works as I have no tabs to test it with. I will have to scrounge one from someone.

 

Most of us were around when everyone smoked everywhere. And they all had the accoutrements . When my mom and dad finally quit,they threw out countless ashtrays !

 

I remember when I worked as a labourer. We were ripping offices out for them to be renovated. They had been mothballed for years and some desks had ashtrays on with cig dimps in. I can't imagine that happening nowadays. I remember British Airways banning smoking when one of their planes set on fire. Quick thinking!

 

I once flew home from London, British Airways....business class....

the guy next to me.... big...sweaty guy......chain smoked Camels...the whole flight...even while he was eating...

 

Urgh.

I took Lufthansa in and out of Germany....but London was always my last stop in Europe.....& BA was a great way to fly international.

 

I like to watch old game shows on TV - I was amazed, at first, that the celebrities in the answer panels actually smoked right on the telecasts. On "The Match Game", alot of the celebrities smoked............

 

I know a guy who carries a cigar with him everywhere driving and all.when he walking into shops or restraunts he snipes the top of it off and continues on with his business.

He italian tho so maybe looks the part

 

I get a kick out of the movie character (usually a cop) who's trying to quit smoking while investigating homicides & drug carnage.They're usually walking around chewing on an unlit stogie or cigarette for the whole film,and finally lite up at the end.

 

we have a new golfing buddy....& the second we hit the links, the cigar comes out and he usually goes for 2 to 4 , depending on the weather...

He's Italian as well...
