    Hello;

    Tonight's find Is a cool gateleg table from Kaufmann's Fifth Avenue Store; Pittsburgh Pa. It appears to be fairly old. I know that the Fifth Avenue store was Built in 1887 and was occupied by Kaufmann's until 2005 when it became Macy's. That's a pretty broad span of time.

    Does anyone have any thoughts on possible age/ value? There is a picture of the Kaufmann's name plate that is on the under side of the table. My guess was that it is some where in the 1890 to 1920 range (based on the lettering and the plate being metal). a.JPG a.JPG aaa.JPG

    I'm in a position to be hunting for vintage and interesting pieces multiple days a week; so I will probably be making a lot of posts. I look forward to sharing my finds and learning about them.

    Oh, I forgot to mention. The top seems to be veneered. Don't know if this helps.

    I am on board with a 20s-30s date.

    Agree on the date. Value would be minimal.

    When you say minimal, are we talking less than $100?

    Despite being a ubiquitous 1920s/1930s household item, think gate leg tables both visually fun and handy.

    An interesting table!
    I used to work across the street from Kaufmann's in downtown Pittsburgh from 1984-1986
    It was a beautiful old department store with 13 floors.

    In my part of the Midwestern U.S. I'd expect to see this table go for $25 to $50 at auction, and to bring no $ at all if there were any condition issues.

    Have to agree with ghopper on this one...I think $25.00 would be a bit on the optimistic side.
