Interesting Freeze

    Hi all - I like this and have just purchased - any idea of origin / maker?

    1.2 metre length - 52cm depth. Thanks !!

    u bought it without knowing anything about it ?
    how did u know what to pay for it ?
    did u take a shot of the back...before hanging it ?

    In classical architecture, the frieze is the wide central section of an entablature and may be plain in the Ionic or Doric order, or decorated with bas-reliefs. Paterae are also usually used to decorate friezes

    It appears to be made of wood. Is that correct?

    I'm seeing two people in a tavern facing off for a duel. To either side a Queen and a King.

    The only painting of a King in similar pose that comes to mind is Charles I

    I don't think it is Charles I, but may be a scene from that period. I also don't think the scene is English.

    Complete guess: maybe in incident from the Three Musketeers?

    Very Charles I-ish. And here's his queen. But hard to see. Better quality photographs would be helpful.
