I have a Cushman couch and chair that I would love some information about. These were given to me by my parents. All I know is that my grandparents bought them in Cleveland and my dad had them in his basement when he was growing up in the 50s or 60s. My mom had them re-upholstered in the early 90s.

Does anyone know when these were made? Type of wood? Value?
    I appreciate any information.

    Thank you.

Late Craftsman with some modern influence ca. 1950. I'm thinking the wood is stained to look like hardwood, but it's difficult to tell just from photos. Hard to tell value without knowing where you are, but these pieces should appeal to both mid-century and Craftsman enthusiasts.

Those would be great in a smaller apartment too; the couch has side tables built in. The only Cushman I know about made motor scooters. Those are prized.

I'd think maple - some Cushman furniture, smokers, etc. have an almost cult-like following, would think these more '30s-'40s than '50s - would be part of their 'Colonial Creations' lines, and yours should have a decent value...

Looks like it might be 'Shaftsbury', shown in a 1941 catalog:

    Yes it was, my apologies...

We had a similar set at some point in my childhood (we moved a lot, so decor changed frequently), and sold a few at my folks' antiques & used furniture store in the early '70s - usually to families with small children, they're sturdy and practical. Picked up a pair of chairs for cheap several years ago, intending them for my screened porch, realized their value had changed and flipped them for a very nice profit instead...
