    Hi everyone,
I bought 5-6 old paintings (except 2nd one shown below- it's obviously newer) at my regular thrift store yesterday for $100.
1 is signed J. Klees 1913 - googling the name I found another painting by that artist saying it was a German artist & they were asking over $1,000 for that piece; although it was on 1stDibs, which is always expensive.
Mine is in rough condition with 1 repaired tear and another that needs repair (look at white cloud about mid way down left of center)
Can anyone find anything more on J. Klees?
And is mine worth having repaired?

The 2nd one I have to admit I thought was a child's painting & almost left it, but I suddenly thought of Jean Michael Basquiat, and even though I couldn't find a signature on it and a image search didn't tell me anything, I put it in the stack of old paintings I'd collected.
Could this one be by Basquiat - didn't he not sign some of his works?
If not, any thoughts on it? (Outsider art? Primitive art? Child's art?

Thank you in advance for any help, it is greatly appreciated!

PS - the canvas on painting above was very dry but I took a spray bottle with water & spritzed the back & then lightly rubbed it in - like I learned here to remove bumps or dents on paintings - and it really did help it!

PS - I forgot to include 2nd painting! I truly apologize.
    Could this be by Basquiat?
Close ups of feet/bottom of painting is in case there's something in pencil - I think there may be something lightly written under the feet on left side of painting, but I can't tell!
Also, are numbers on back some kind of auction code?
    Thanks again!

The first appears to be inspired by a work by Charles Wildt. (1861-1912)

Google Images identifies all similars to the second as aboriginal bark paintings.

I saw the Basquiat exhibit at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta a few years ago. He was pretty amazing. It makes me sad that whoever is in charge of his estate has commercialized his work and it's on all kinds of things. I doubt he would approve.

Different frame - just another print like yours and the one in the unsold Australian auction...

And I think he definitely would have approved having hung out with Warhol.
