Info about Chair we found

Found this old beautiful chair. We are planning to replace the seat. It looks to be very old, has flat head screws. Can anybody tell me what kind of chair this is and what it may be worth? Thank you

I don't know what a morris is, (I'm a rookie) but I will find out! LOL. I actually found this is a dumpster!! I'm sorry but I don't have any stickers or stamps. What type do you collect? Thank you

I meant are either of those items found on the chair as it seems you may have thought I was asking about them separately from the subject at hand.

The legs and frame say 1940s to me,but that back has me thrown for a loop. I swear it looks like a table top ! Is there a pic of the back ? And maybe next time a tad bigger photos ? Personally speaking,my eyes are wonky,and even magnified I cant see clearly sometimes. It looks heavy,is it ? I think its a great looking piece,and reupholstered it will look even better .

In a quick search for chairs with such a solid, oval back I found such a thing.
Therefore my "I think it's a...."
Is that incorrect for style then?

 

Here are some more pictures..there are no markings on the chair like stamps or stickers.

 

It does kinda look like a table top, however, there are no holes on the back like it had ever been used as a table top, so I don't know. I did post additional pictures below. Thanks

Painted it might look ok...after filling the open pit mines on the back.

someone had thrown it in the dumpster. I'm not a dumpster diver, but I thought it had so much potential so I got my husband to go after it..lol

yeah, he's a junker..somebody threw this out along with some cool tables and an old reproduction Antonius Stradivarius Violin..we hit the jackpot!! lol

Cleaned up - holes in the back covered with new screw hole plugs - nice fabric on seat - and you have an interesting and pretty chair.

Painted, you have a common, garden variety, chair.
