It is Anglo-Indian silver, Swami style from Madras, southern India. Datewise ca 1900.
I don't know if the 85 stands for the fineness, my Anglo-Indian silver isn't marked. Maybe it's a manufacturer's code?
The style is called Swami because it has Hindu motifs.
    Madras is now called Chennai.

Agree with AJ and I don't think the 85 would be fineness, I've never come across 85 as an Indian standard so it likely for something else.

Mine is magic, I don't know if there are more magic bottles.:shifty::playful:
I think mine was from a Bulgarian seller on ebay, when I still had a functioning ebay account.

Indian silver, if it was ever marked, was done as silver or sterling. So 85 isn't fineness.

All of a sudden, a few years ago, my account was blocked. No reason given.
I contacted ebay, and the call-center person said I blocked it myself. Of course I didn't.
I sent a message through a problem solving page they have, and received a reply that I had blocked it myself but she would send me a link. Link didn't work. This was all in English.
After a few weeks of toing and froing I finally got a mail from a Dutch ebay employee, apologizing, and saying it was all ebay's fault, and he sent me another link. The link didn't work.:sour:

So I decided to open another account using another email address. I immediately got a message saying that I posed a threat to the site, and they had blocked me.
All this happened after I had been buying on ebay for about 10 years, always paying on time, never causing any issues, and sellers giving me reviews like "perfect buyer" etc.

After ebay's risk lie and subsequent blocking, in spite of my long-standing spotless record, I decided that ebay poses a threat to my sanity.
So I have stopped trying. I have blocked them.;)

AJ, I share your pain. There is Nothing more annoying than a mishap which has no cause, no remediation, and no way around it whatsoever. Just such a scenario as happened with you, has happened with my online grocery shopping company.

    ????!!!!:rage::rage:

That is much more important than ebay, you need groceries. Have you found an alternative?

My computer genius* is coming tomorrow. (I sincerely hope.) I can do without many things, but eggs, laundry soap, and Haagen Dasz are not on the list.

Said genius tried mightily to deal with the grocery store first but got as nowhere as I. Bletch!

    Good luck, silver!
    Otherwise, try another store.
I have accounts for online grocery shopping at several supermarket chains overhere, and for a few more specialised (diet etc) grocery stores. We never go hungry, and we always have a supply of chocolate.:playful: Belgian, of course.
