Finding silver on the shelves in a charity shop is such a rarity in my area that I won’t be surprised if you say this is plated but….for £1.99 I’m not going to lose! Still haven’t replaced my acid but it’s non magnetic which is a good start.
It’s nearly unmarked apart from a dot on the bottom that looks just like a point maybe where the bowl was secured rather than a hallmark.
No proper hallmark but some initials (?) punched into the base. If there is a hallmark it’s like Where’s Wally in amongst the decoration!
My research including in past posts leads me to Indian Kutch silver.
The big difference I can see to the online ones us that mine has a smooth interior whereas most/all I can see have the reverse image of the stamping on the inside. So is the decoration on mine rolled on rather than hand done or ?
It is hexagonal at the top and round at the bottom. c8.5cm across and 80g.
@Any Jewelry I know Kutch silver is something that you have an interest in so any ideas please?

It is gorgeous, K. Not Kutch, but Kashmir.
That leaf is a chinar leaf, a symbol of Kashmir. The type of decoration is also different from Kutch work, although related, both are in the Northeast, and Persian/Mughal influenced.

    Some info on Kashmiri silver:

Yours could be more recent than the Raj, but still a beauty, and another one of your mind-boggling bargains at £1.99.:jawdrop: I am glad sellers near you don't have eyes in their head.:hilarious:

If you have no acid, buy yourself a button battery size Rare Earth Magnet. (available on eBay)

Stand the bowl on its edge and put the magnet at the top and let it slide down.
If it drags and slides slowly then the bowl has silver content, the higher the content the slower it slides.

If its plated or nickel or cupro nickel it will drop off.

Warning, don't put the magnet near smart phones or car fobs, it can wipe the memory.

This guy explains silver content in coins using a REM.

    Thanks AJ!
So there is a chance it’s silver and not plated? Even though it’s not hallmarked?
Is it hand done or rolled?

    It could be either.
    They use several plating techniques.
