Can anyone help identify this stamp. Its on a hinge inside a piece of Indian furniture. Circa 1900.

In a cartoonish way, it looks like the young Queen Victoria.

It is a crowned portrait of Victoria similar to the one below on a Gothic Florin.
I`ve never seen that image on a hinge before.
Perhaps it was punched on in British India.
Looks like Bombay to the left of her face which is now present day Mumbai.

Interesting. Think you may be right. Indian coin issued 1860s. A crude copy of this?

Yes I should have posted a pic of a Victorian Rupee.

I don't see Bombay, did you mean the text? On the left it says Victoria d:g:britt:, on the right is the date with reg: in front.

Edit: I thought you meant the coin. But on the hinge, yes, it does.

Never mind that, it has Ganesha. My absolute favourite Hindu deity. I'd buy it for that alone.

I agree with Obb, to me the focus seems wrong. (And I love Ganesha too, clears obstacles in life and guides to wisdom, what more could you want.;))
It is unlikely the hardware was made by the manufacturer of the dresser. The hinge was made in Bombay/Mumbai, but I'd rather find out more about the dresser.
If Indian furniture styles are anything like styles in Indian silver, I'd say the dresser was made in Madras/Chennai.
Could we see the other carvings? The depicted deities could also pinpoint us in the direction of the region of origin. Mumbai has an annual Ganesh Chaturthi festival, by the way, but so do many other cities and towns.

The piece splits down; carved top pelmet comes off and folds up, the shelves can be removed, the top section can be removed from the base as seen above.
