Hi all, just had a few questions on this piece. i know it it imperial as it has the original sticker.
I was hoping someone had a book on these to tell me. i know it isn't an antique or even very old.

    1. is it caramel or brown?
    2. When was it made?
    3. Is it a compote or open jelly?

Imperial registered that trademark in 1940 so it would have been made after that. I'd say most likely at least 20 years later, but that's just a guess. Regardless, it's not 100 years old, so not antique.

Thank you msgood2shoe and Peggy, i had already looked on both of those sites earlier. My initial thoughts were somewhere in the mid 70's. I stated i already knew it wasn't antique by the way. But it could be earlier then i first thought.

Hi Mikey - Imperial called that color Caramel Slag. Production began in earnest in 1964 and ran into until the mid 1970s and started again in 1981. Imperial closed in 1984. There were two finishes available: glossy and satin. I believe yours is satin. This information came from James Measell's "Imperial Glass Encyclopedia, Volume II.

Just to clear the record, Imperial had molds from Central, Cambridge and Heisey, at least. This is (I believe) an original Imperial mold.
