Identifying purse basket?

    Anyone know anything about this specific basket’s origins? Thank you so so much for any help!

    Sorry, I'm no help on identifying its age or origin, but I would not call this a purse.... Just a handled basket or tote. A purse would not be wide open on the top.

    I agree, it's a handled basket, not a purse.

    Nor is it "Indian" as stated on the tag. if that's intended to indicate Native American Indian or First Nations basketry, since it isn't made with the combination of materials, form, or construction technique of any tribe I'm aware of.

    I seem to recall having seen this type before, but I can't remember right now, where it was made. Possibly the South Pacific, or maybe it will come back to me later!
