Identifying ornate metal hexagon

    Anyone know what this used to be? Any details appreciated!

    Id guess a compact missing the bottom .Probably 1920s . Is it marked anywhere ?

    With those small holes all around the bottom piece, I think it's possible this is the top of a purse, maybe a beaded purse or a purse sewn to this silver top but now missing the "purse" bit, looks 1920's

    If I can't find any markings on it it's most likely not real silver, correct? I'm not sure how to clean it up - would silver polish still work? Or just leave as is.

    Could very well be silver plated, so do give it a gentle application of silver polish before assuming there are no marks at all. They often hide in tarnish.

    I agree with johnny on the purse possibility (with the top doing double duty as a compact mirror.)

    I would say little handbag too with handy mirror, just missing its fabric on the bottom.

    It may well be silver, those are not always marked. Nice find.
