Identify this metal clip or clasp?

Found with late 19th century buttons and men's shirt cuff holders.

A bit industrial looking for skirt lifters, I suppose.

 

Nose and ear hair pullers? (ouch!)

 

Welcome, tmc. If you have read through many threads on this site, you will see we use it as much to amuse ourselves as to find knowledge. Are you showing us 2 different items? Two items, but same design? One item, two different views? I assume the ring slides down to hold the pincers together? Does that ear-shaped piece fit in the palm of the hand & then you squeeze to close the little tongs with one hand & slide the ring down with the other. After looking at others, see not all were pretty, dainty little things. Skirt lifter(s) is my best guess. Someone may yet come along who knows exactly what you're looking at.
