image.jpg i purchased this hand hammered brass?copper? Floor lamp at an antique store in Toronto Canada several years ago. I believe it is French nouveau style or maybe arts and crafts. It does not have the original shade. The lamp is signed what looks like 'A Folprom'. I may have the signature wrong as it is in script anyone able to tell me anything about this?

Show a picture of the base with any decoration it has, and another of the signature. It looks like wrought iron to me.

It is likely French and more art deco than either of the other styles. You are correct about the shade being wrong. Most of these were iron. Does a magnet stick? Otherwise, we need more photos including the signature.

Here are some more photos..... I tested with a magnet and yes, it does stick. If anyone knows what the original lamp shade style would be I would appreciate that also..... IMG_1106.JPG IMG_1108.JPG

Have not been able to make out the name for an attribution. These usually had wide flaring bowl shades of art glass, alabaster, or sometimes copper. The shade you have is appropriate for an American torchiere from about the same time period or a bit later.

    The lamp is Cast Iron.

Wouldn't it be likely to be wrought iron?

Not the base. It's heavy and it was Cast.

I agree with Messi. It is all wrought iron.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I was thinking Tolpron, but the only thing I found on that is a query on another site by, I think, the same person who posted here (Satie37).

Colpson? Whatever it is, it looks like it ought to be easy to read.

FYI, the photos on the other site they asked on, are much, much, clearer.
I will see if I can find it again.

Thanks for the links to the other photos. I have been trying to find out about this lamp and identify the person who made it. It looks like a Brandt style lamp.
